Eric Akbar Manolson, Project Coordinator, discussing the effects of music on seniors experiencing a loss of cognitive abilities.
Mental Health Estrie, in collaboration with community partners; The Centre D’Action Bénévole du Haut St-Francois and the Richmond & Region Community Learning Centre, provided a series of interactive training and information sharing sessions for caregivers during National Caregivers Week, November 3 – 9, 2014.
These afternoon events took place in Cookshire, Richmond and Coaticook. The theme of the week was “Preventing Depression and Anxiety in Caregivers.” Each session included presentations by MHE staff, a demonstration of how music can be used to communicate and connect with people living with a loss of cognitive abilities, and a guest speaker, as well as informational handouts, door prizes and a healthy snack. Our appreciation is extended to Appui Estrie and the Tillotson Coaticook Region Fund, whose financial support made these sessions possible.
